On Friday 27th May, we held a school-wide party to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
In the weeks prior to the big event, learners spent time preparing decorations and displays, and finding out about the Queen and her role in British society.
One of our learners, Joshua, and his classmates decided that they would like to contact Her Majesty and invite her along to join the celebrations! They did just that, and sent her a letter. We were astonished when she replied, through one of her ladies-in waiting, acknowledging us and thanking us for the invitation! Unfortunately she wasn’t able to attend, having a very busy schedule, but a great time was had in her honour.
Learners and staff enjoyed a barbeque and buffet lunch in the garden, along with music and lots of dancing. It was a great opportunity for our learners to have fun and socialise with their peers across the school, while also celebrating 70 years of Her Majesty’s service to the people of the UK.
