ALP Nuneaton is a school for learners between the ages of 6 and 19 with Special Educational Needs. ALP Nuneaton provides continuity in learning for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. We are a short, medium and long-term provision for learners on the autistic spectrum or who have other special educational needs and challenging behaviour. We cater for young people in their primary, secondary and post-16 school years. The overarching purpose of our provision is to work with learners so that they are able to overcome the barriers to learning that they have previously encountered. We aim to offer flexible, structured and supportive needs led approaches.
The post holder will support the senior management team in providing professional support with relation to the pastoral care for our learners including supporting behaviour, liaising with and maintaining accurate records and working with staff, learners, parents and external agencies to ensure appropriate plans and strategies are in place to support learners and their families.
The post holder will also support in the management of behaviour in the school. They will guide classroom staff in the writing of Positive Handling Plans for learners and the regular analysis of behaviour in school. Thus ensuring the school has the best behaviour systems in place to allow for a positive teaching and learning environment.

To work as a Learning Support Assistant in an independent school, for up to 50 learners with special educational needs and challenging behaviour.
The post holder will be required to work as part of the team in supporting and guiding learners with learning difficulties/disabilities in both individual and small group learning sessions.
The post holder may work with primary, secondary or Post 16 learners to support and assist them in establishing good attendance, positive relationships, a routine, trust and respect for the environment and the people within it. The post holder will support teaching and learning with the school.

The post holder will work with on a one to one basis and small groups to support children who have an autism diagnosis and either are pre-verbal or have communication difficulties. This will involve planning life skills sessions both in school and in the community. Delivery will be to secondary and/or post-16 learners with severe learning difficulties/disabilities in both individual and small group learning sessions.
The post holder will be supported to be able to plan, deliver and assess their own teaching and learning activities with direction and supervision from the Senior Management Team.
