ALP Nuneaton Boosts Capacity to Meet Growing Demand for Specialist Education

ALP Nuneaton, a leading independent specialist school dedicated to providing exceptional education for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), is delighted to announce a significant expansion of its capacity, increasing the number of student places from 50 to 70.

This strategic expansion comes in response to the ever-growing demand for high-quality, tailored educational provision for young people facing complex challenges. The additional 20 places will enable ALP Nuneaton to support more learners in the local community and surrounding areas, ensuring they receive the specialised support and nurturing environment necessary to thrive academically and personally.

This growth is further supported by a recent investment of around £65,000 in a new outside classroom pod and play area, enhancing the learning environment for all students.

ALP Nuneaton opened in January 2021 and is situated on the former Milverton House Primary School site in the Attleborough area of Nuneaton. This expansion comes as the school continues to build upon its consistently high standards, having been rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED in December 2021 and again in November 2024.

Key areas of strength identified by Ofsted during their material change visit on 21 May 2025 include that:

  • “Leaders ensure that there is a vigilant culture of safeguarding through regular staff training and the use of clear structured systems for recording and following up on concerns.”
  • “Safeguarding is embedded into everyday practice. Staff are observant and responsive to subtle changes in pupils’ behaviour or well-being.”
  • “The school has clear and comprehensive health and safety policies in place. These are implemented effectively.”
  • “The school deploys staff effectively during the school day. Robust and well-orchestrated arrangements for the arrival and departure of pupils ensure that they are closely supervised from the moment they enter the premises each morning.”
  • “The site has sufficient space to accommodate the material change if approved. There is a spacious hall and dining area. There are several outdoor spaces, including an area that leaders plan to develop into a natural outdoor learning space in the future.”

Bradley Rowley, Head Teacher of ALP Nuneaton, said:

“We are delighted with this development. In a relatively short period, our school has established a strong reputation. The ability to extend our support to a greater number of children and their families is a source of immense pride. We are already developing plans for further expansion to address future demand, confident that our dedicated team is exceptionally well-equipped to achieve these goals.”
