Collette Gilbody

Teacher

I have worked in childcare and education for seven years, working with ages 0-16 with special educational needs and emotional difficulties. I started my career in a nursery as a practitioner and deputy manager, while here I started a degree in early childhood and completed this with honours while gaining experience as a teacher in SEN and SEMH schools. I started ALP Nuneaton in January 2021 when the school first opened as a primary teacher. I have since improved my professional development by taking on new roles such as deputy designated safeguarding lead and PSHE coordinator. I am very passionate about supporting children's academic, social and personal development. I enjoy learning new skills and coming up with creative ideas to support and inspire children with their learning and on their journey to their future. In my spare time I enjoy socialising with family and friends, spending time with my dogs, going to ice hockey games and going on holidays, exploring new places and experiences.

Laura Elderfield

Speech, Language and Communication Coordinator

I have been part of the team at ALP Nuneaton since it opened at the beginning of 2021, where I am now the Communication Champion across the school and a higher level tutor based in primary. Previous to this, I completed a degree in Speech and Language Sciences where I took particular interest in communication difficulties associated with a-typical neuro-development. I have volunteered in multiple SEN and SEMH settings, including working at a playscheme for children on the ASC spectrum every summer. I love working with the children at ALP and I am excited to watch them become inspired and grow throughout the environment that has been created for them. In my spare time you would find me in the gym or walking my dog!
